This pattern is designed to be relatively simple to offset the more showy Tulips Lampshade in red. To Cressida it is reminiscent of the swirling lines in a Venetian glass bauble. The balance of the design is all-important and it’s quite hard to achieve the right spacing between the lines.
These unique lamp bases are designed to go with her selection of lampshades. They are made of turned elm and produced especially for them in Sussex. She paint each one by hand which means no two are ever the same – though perfection is her aim. They are all bear her painted signature near to the base.
After painting they receive a protective semi-matt varnish and are fitted with a brass switched bayonet cap lampholder and a classic linen-covered stripey cream & black flex.
